Software News

Facton Inc. of Auburn Hills, a specialist in life cycle software, is teaming up with Munro & Associates Inc. of Troy and its software development organization, Design Profit Inc.

Martin Nehls, Facton chief executive officer and co-founder, said the new alliance will help both companies and their clients.

"This alliance provides invaluable resources to fine tune communication between engineering, operations and financial leadership so they can wring out every dollar to be competitive," Nehls said.

The new alliance will offer clients an opportunity to see in real time the financial effects of product and process engineering tradeoffs with Facton and Design Profit software while employing Munro & Associates' lead design expertise.

Nehls also said Facton has proven it can help customers reduce product cost by as much as 8 percent and trim time to market by up to 30 percent. Among the global companies that have already taken advantage of Facton's solutions are: Airbus, Porsche, Behr, Siemens, Magna Powertrain, Brose, Mahle and Mercedes AMG.

Meanwhile, Munro & Associates offers an analytical approach that provides essential information to determine where and how to reduce life cycle costs and maximize customer delight.

"This will be a powerful advantage for our customers," said Sandy Munro, the firm's founder and chief executive.

"Many companies have tried to claim a total software solution to product development; however none have succeeded on their own," he said.
Munro and Associates, a consulting engineering firm founded in 1988, has abundant knowledge in product design, manufacturing, quality and technologies from a broad selection of industries around the world, Munro said.

Facton is the North American arm of a company founded in 1998 and based in Dresden, Germany, that has 60 employees in the U.S., Germany and Spain and 475 professionals in partner organizations covering engineering, finance and information technologies.
